Commercial requirements
My friend has SE and ME private license and instrument rated. How many hours of dual are required to get the commercial license? I have a feeling that he is getting the wrong information from his current school. He was told that some of the required x-countries need to be with an instructor, but I don't see it in the FAR. Please help....
Thank you,

He needs a 2 hour 100 nm dual x/c flight in day vfr conditions, and one of the same in night vfr conditions (SEL rating, I assume).
Some of this might have been accomplished as part of the private and instrument requirements (vfr conditions); otherwise it appears the school is correct. Also, I'm not 100% sure about the instrument x/c counting - there may be an interpretation otherwise, even though the flying may have been performed CAVU.

As far as the requirements,
1. Right now, he has more than 10 hours of complex training. This was obtained when he did his private ME rating. Does he need 10 extra hours?
2. and 3. Do the x-coutry for his private count?
Thanks in advance for your answers.

One thing that hangs people up sometimes on (4) and (5) above: these items must be performed solo, as in nobody on board but the pilot. No girlfriend, pal, etc. Not even a stowaway pet. You aren't even supposed to THINK about having these things on board (kidding).

I think that as long as he has meet the requirements as far as endorsements, times, experience, etc... the only thing he has to do is prepare for the oral and practical tests to be able to demonstrate proficiency (PTS) of the Commercial Manuvers, as well as complete any XC requirements.
