ATP (AllATPs) students--Currently enrolled and previously attended
 

OK, I'm looking for input from currently enrolled ATP students and from pilots that have trained at ATP. I would like to know what you think of their training and professionalism. Are (were) you satisfied with your choice of flight schools? I am seriously considering enrolling in their Airline Career Program and would greatly appreciate some advice from those who have attended this school, regardless of location. I thank you, in advance, for your help!

Jetcareers, www.jetcareers.com has a very active forum for ATP. This site, while it's by far my favorite, pales in comparasion to JC with respect to info on ATP.

If you check out JC, you'll see I'm not a fan of the 90 day program, and you'll see why.

I did 3 spot checks, suprise visits, to the Chicago, Orlando, Daytona Beach facilites. In Chicago, only 1 flight instructor with too many pilots and no SE plane. He was not "thrilled" I did a suprise stop by, and I was not impressed with the office facilities, only 1 airplane on the field, and only 1 instructor, nor with his attitude.

In Orlando, the instructor would never take me to the field to see the airplanes (and how many), and she was the I am god, you bow down to me, and either sign up for a class or leave.

In Daytona Beach the instructors were more friendly, but swamped with students, they have a shortage of instructors, and not "a-lot" of planes.

When I tried to schedule a visit to Jax, they kept "post-pone-ing" it, which all to me is shocking as I had my financing for the entire program approved, and the bank had signed off for the school to rec'v their check, but we could never "get me in" on a schedule visit.

I have 165hrs SE Instrument rating, and a 1st class medical, no FAA incidents. I feel thier operation is poorly run, and all of the instructors didn't want anything to do with me when they found out I had no intentions of "teaching" at their place when I finished. They also didn't like the fact that I currently work for a major 121 airline and that I would be given a guarnteed interview upon meeting the minimum requirements posted to apply.

One of those guys, Sorry if you were disappointed but ATP has no shortage of prospective students, they don't do a lot of ass kissing because they know they've got people on waiting lists to attend. As far as the poorly run thing, ATP CFI's do not do administrative work and tours, it's at their discretion. It's not like the fbo where you expect cfi's to show you around as soon as you walk in as if they're salesmen. It's encouraged for them to lead the perspectives to the 1800 number, they have more imporant things to do then show people around. Honestly when I was there there were people that'd walk in with parents grand parents and cousins looking like idiots wondering about the program. The website answers every single question that you will have. By the way I'm not sure about your last paragraph, they could care less who they're training and if they work 121 or not.

I got my ATP and MEI at allATP's in December, 1985.

I used them to get my ATP... very professional (but young) staff and well organized syllabus to get military pilots through the program. I thought it was money well spent.

Well if they expect me to spend $50,000 plus, I expect more than just a website to make my an educated financial decision. If they can't have a represntative to show me their facitilies, aircraft, scheduling policies, etc....then it leads me to believe they are a very disorganized group, and they don't need my $50,000. Needless to say they aren't getting it, but another flight school is.

In regards to the website, it does not answer all questions, and some information is incorrect, one example, they offer the pvt pilot at all schools, well in Chicago, per their instructor, "we don't have a single engine a/c and I don't do single engine training, they need to go elsewhere for that".

Anyone who pays for their school, based upon a website without an actual visit to the facilites, is a fool, that I have some oceanfront property for sale for them in Montana.

I am sure they wont miss your 50 grand... but I feel the guys who do take it.
