American Flyers, CFI/I academy discount

I have just recently gone through the CFI/I academy at American flyers, and I still have the text book for the course. If anyone is thinking about going to this program please let me know if you would like to save some money on the books. I bought them for 320, Ill sell them for 260, you save 60, 60 = starbucks for an entire month :)

What did you think about the program? We got some guys on here that can't get into ATP that are looking for other options, besides Sheble's.

Great program, i went through the one in Santa Monica. It's very tough though. Its a 30 day program, everyday, typically 8-12 daily, but your probably going to spend all day there working on creating lesson plans and presenting them. If you are seriously thinking about going let me know, Ill give you some really helpful pointers.

I am seriously thinking....Prices? Is it possible to get it done in less then 30?
Thanks....

Caelum Deus 08-12-2007 01:17 PM

You cant get it done in less then thirty days, but in the 30 days you will get both the CFIA and CFII. Prices range between 3000-6000, depending on whether you go 61 or 141 (61 being cheaper). call American flyers, and theyll give you all the specs. If you decide to go, Ill have your books waiting for you. good day

When I worked there, all students HAD to buy the required books for each course from AF...all part of how they charge you. Showing up with the books in hand will not get you off the hook for buying them (unless things have changed).

On this subject, the AF CFI Academy is a pretty good deal for most folks ,unlike their other programs which are WAY overpriced. Also don't work their unless you have access to a ME airplane, cuz you won't get your twin time at AF.

You can disregard this quote, Ive already spoken with AF and they said they would just deduct the price of the books from the total cost.

Get it in writing...

Flyboyrw 08-16-2007 09:24 AM

So.... How was the checkride down there? Was it fsdo or on staff examiner?

Flyboyrw 08-18-2007 06:49 PM

So how was the ride???

N6724G 08-26-2007 06:47 AM

I graduated from the AF CFI Academy in July. The checkride is done by DPE's appointed by the local FSDO. But they use the same DPE's so they know them and can prepare the student for them.

Hey Caelum,

I'm planning to get my CFI/I through American Flyers in Santa Monica in January or February. Any insight or pointers would be appreciated. Feel free to PM me.

Thanks,
Bernoulli Fan

Feel free to post them, too. With ATP not taking outside students, it would be nice to have a good accelerated CFI school to recommend.
