Auburn Aviation guys, have a question...

Can someone get their training through auburn aviation (auburn-pitts airport) without being enrolled in AU? ie., I am graduating from another four year school in december and am looking around for my flight training. I figure I would look into auburn because of the great reputation and great connections. Basically I would treat it as a FBO. And if so, what ratings do they offer and how do the prices compare to other FBO's or flight schools. Thanks for the info.

Auburn has a GREAT program. Private-Commercial...they also offer Flight Instructor ratings but most people go else where for their CFI, CFII, and MEI. You do not have to be an Auburn student to be part of the program but if you are, you get university credit. However, prices are a bit expensive. hope this helps

What a riot....I'm an Auburn grad. When I look back on my life there I wish I had gone though the aviation program. Any benes or pricing benefits to former grads? That would be a hoot to be back in Auburn for a time.

Hi!

I got my PPL there while in ROTC. It was a great program. One of my 2 CFIs is now the Asst Airport Manager. I would recommend it highly!

auburnaviation... You say it's a bit expensive. How does it compare to a place like ATP? I figured it would be more than an average FBO, but how much? thanks.

I was an instructor there until I left in June. The prices from what I remember were about 220/hr for the duchess 110/hr for C-172R and 130ish/hr for the C-172RG. Plus the Instructor fee which depends on the rating usually between 32-40/hr. Fairly expensive but nothing greatly more than most flight schools I've seen. All of the C-172R's are pretty nice, and they have been talking about new complex airplanes but that has been going on for over a year.

It's more than ATP for sure. The training is much more thorough though.
