Cessna 150 !!
My Cessna 150 arrived yesterday and man am I excited!! One of my oldest friends on this forum was kind enough to deliver it to me as well. Thanks again !!
It has been over 14 years since I last flew a 150 and I am looking forward to trying to remember what it was like to simply fly for fun. Until now aviation always had the overshadowing purpose of building a career. I am not really sure that I can make it as a hobbyist. I showed the plane to my sons last night and man did they get stirred up. Most of them don't even know that I am a pilot. SkyHigh |
Most of them? Geez how many sons do you have?
Just kidding, enjoy flying as a hobby, hope I can experience that again one day... but for now, I'm stuck doing what youve been doing, flying toward the light at the end of a tunnel, trying to make a career for myself. |
I was wondering the same thing...lol. How many kids do you have? And I thought just having one daughter took a lot outta me.
Looks like your finally finding a way to get back into aviation, even as a hobby. It's nice to see a not so depressing post from you. Have fun with the 150...she's a great bird. |
Sons
I have 4 sons aged 11 to 2 years. Half of my kids were born since I was laid off from my last flying job and they have never even been to the hangar that my brother and I own before yesterday. They don't even know of my aviation past.
I didn't expect them to get so excited by seeing and sitting in the plane. My wife is worried. She has already told me that it will be a long while before I can take one up for a flight. :( Oh well, I am also a little nervous about flying a GA plane again. Hopefully I will get my chance this weekend !! SkyHigh |

So did you purchase the 150? Seems I'm a bit confused here. And enlighten your children on your past...they would probably be interested to know they had a pilot for a dad.

Purpose
In the past flying always had the purpose of striving towards a career and my expectations of reaching the next rung added to the excitement. My peers were also career minded and were easy to relate to.
As a hobbyist now and without a clear aviation goal in mind I imagine it will be difficult to stir up the same drive. My peer group now is a bunch of crazy EAA snow heads, most of whom have never built up the courage of even leaving the valley in thier home built planes. I try to avoid them but they like to come around my hangar anyway and I suppose now I will have to associate with them. I tell my wife that the plane is to re-start my career hopes and whether it is true or not perhaps that will help me to find a purpose. I am already beginning to draw a few flight student prospects. Since leaving the airlines I now live in a small town that really does not offer many flying opportunities. I don't have many aviation friends who came all the way out here to visit either, so to them my aviation past didn't exist until yesterday. Skyhigh |
