Good Flight School to Instruct at?
 

What is a good flight school to instruct at? What are some of the better schools that pay half way decent and that you can build quick time both SE and ME with little dual given so far? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

They pay good, plus you will be instructing in a Cirrus which is a glass cockpit. Airlines like to see applicants with glass cockpit time, it distinguishes you from the other applicants.

get as much multi time as you can, that's what the airlines care about more than anything. I have a buddy instructing at allatps and he does nothing but multi instruction. I had to get mine by doing a corporate deal but with the instructor shortage, find some place with a twin. Don't go somewhere just because they have cool airplanes, if you aren't doing at least a third of your teaching in a twin, don't take the job.

Well yeah that goes without saying...

Western has a good size multi fleet, so its a good place to get a lot of multi time and glass time if you are also flying in the Cirrus

I had a fair amount of glass cockpit time when I went to my interview and they said that it didnt mean much, single engine is single engine. It was in SR20, Malibu Mirage, Mooney Ovation and Columbia 400. They were much more impressed with the 600 hours in the C310 and the total time. I did enjoy flyin those late model airplanes though, they were really nice.

Well then you might as just go where you can get the best pay, and Western is one of those places $23-29/hr is one of the best in the nation I have to assume. Some instructors here are pulling in 100-140 hr per month, thats big $$

I am currently at UND but I am interested in getting out of North Dakota. You get roughly 20 hours dual given per multi student over a semester but I may be wrong but I think I could get more at another school with similiar equipment because of all the FTD time our students do. In all reality UND is a good school to instruct at minus the location and the $15/hour pay. Thanks for all the info I will have to do some research into soem of the other schools and throw some apps around!

Actually because UND is Pt 141 we get more multi time than a person getting there commercial mutli land. According to the the current pt 141 regs a commercial applicant needs to have at least 24 hours. A person getting it Pt. 61 doesn't need near that amount of time. Also MEI instructors get 18 an hour not 15.
Bronco - Do you have any idea what WMU charges its students per hour in the Multi? Also what is the student charged per hour for the instructor?

Yeah students are charged $230/hr for the plane, either a PA-34 or a PA-44. Then they are also charged $43/hr for me. Then they are also tacked on a fuel surcharge which I think is like $15/hr.
