CFI's and Part 121 Op's

Does the FAA require that a Part 121 ground or sim instructor be a CFII?

What about company check airman, or IOE training Captains?

Just wondering......

No and no.

All you need is an ATP to be an instructor for an air carrier (essentially though you will take a series of evals and checkrides to get signed off.)

It's an in-house qualification, similar to qualifying as an IP. You will take a ride with a Fed.

My POI Fed wouldn't even renew my instructor certificate and I was a check airman! Now I'm expired!
