Help! Low time cargo?

Greetings,

I'm a 26 yr old transitioning from a USAF non flying career to a civilian flying career (hopefully). I'm looking about to start picking up some training and I have a few questions about the job search that awaits me. Luckily my wife works and is willing to drag me for a few years...

1. Are there any cargo operators that hire low time pilots? I should have about 500hrs total time, 100 multi/turbine, 100 multi/piston, and 300 SEL with CMEI tickets next year.

2. This one is obscure, but... are any cargo operators looking for people with active TS/SCI security clearances? I was thinking blackwater, world airways and evergreen but I can't find their minimums.

I appreciate any advice you might have!

Try airnet (www.airnet.com) you'll be able to build time (PIC) with them and if you stay a few years you can get jet time in a lear before moving on...

Don't know about active TS/SCI jobs in aviation. Check out back issues of AF Times - i saw an ad for blackwater aviation in one a few months back...

World Airways minimums are 3000tt and 1000 turbine. Of course, they might be looking for a few good scabs.

I appreciate your help. I'd forgotten about Airnet and now I should probably forget about World Airways for a while... :)

You'll likely need 135 mins before going to a company like Airnet, Ameriflight, etc. I'd also try Air Cargo Carriers. They have a bunch of Shorts 360s and are starting to get Falcon 20s as well. I believe they'll hire to the right seat of the Shorts and have heard they will upgrade you after you have your 135 mins as a seat becomes available.

AirNet has an SIC program.

The absolute minimum to apply is:
500 total
100 x-country
25 night

Realistically it's probably higher, but I know people have started with those times.

Scenic airlines hires @ 600TT and 50ME. I fly there and love it. It's worth a look...
