Anson Air-Sugarland, TX
 

Has anyone gotten ratings from Anson Air in Sugar Land. I am debating ATP, chiefly because I'm beginning to think they are over priced and probably not worth the 50K. Plus I could probably pay for almost everything out of pocket by going to Anson. If anyone has attended the school for instrument-MEI let me know how your experience was.

Anson Air is a great place to rent, but not to train. I wouldn't recommend it. I started on my ppl there and I got took for a ride.

Several reason why I would recommend Anson Air...........

1. They are economical compared to ATP and DCA

2. They have decent planes, all are IFR, most with GPS, and they have 2 G1000's (1-172 and 1-182)

3. Chief Pilot is an FAA DPE and a really nice guy

4. Sugarland Airport is an awesome field to train at. It's in class "D", right outside of class "B", has a practive area nearby, and has all instrument approaches (ILS, GPS, VOR, and NDB).

5. They are located at the 17 end of the field. So for the majority of days in SE Texas you will not run your hobbs up taxiing, you are already right there!

I would definately recommend them!

I also live in Sugar Land, and I'm strongly considering getting my PPL there. Anyone know how big their training facility is? When I visited all I saw was the trailer. Also, how expensive are they? I've heard in the neighborhood of 4 to 5 thousand for PPL.

check out the link above it tells you their rates. However they are extremely expensive if you just do it by the hour. They will screw you if you don't do their little discount programs. I'm just about ready to solo at 25 hours (I had an instructor who used to be extremely anal about how everything is done before you solo) and I had to take off a year. I went to them for a refresher a couple weeks ago and they charged me 211 for one hour in a cessna 172-R. I am going to finish at my other flight school but I think I'm gonna do Anson's pro pilot deal. It's like $31,000 without private. Good luck

I have a buddy who used to instruct there and he never had any bad words about it. I flew there a couple times to visit and it seemed like a nice place.

Yup. It was on jackstands for awhile because parts can be hard to locate for it but now it's in top notch shape. We're supposed to be getting a twin comanche soon, but like everything else in aviation, "I'll believe it when I see it" comes to mind.
