Does it really help a resume if you're holding a position? All the events are monster driving commutes since I live an hour and a half from my campus and everything is held around there. I don't need AHP to network.

We did have a nifty XJT tour last semester, but I had to miss it for work at UPS.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

I remember at Riddle in 81 they said how AHP looked good on a resume. Ummm....no. If it's fun and you make friends, AHP is cool. Outside of that, nobody cares....

I just wanted to make a neutral position in case someone out there blurted out "Of course it helps on a resume!!!!!" :p

Sadly I really don't meet any new people in my AHP meetings because they're practically all the same <male population> I sit with all day in ground school.

I guess I'll try it for another semester and see if things get any better.

I'm treasurer of the AHP chapter at my university, and I can tell you it's really more like a club. I mean don't get me wrong, we do some sweet things...skydiving, altitude chamber, touring Pinnacle and Fedex, and other (A major contact at Fedex is the national president of AHP), nonaviation things as well, for example...caving. It's a lot of fun and a great way to make friends. For me, I've gotten in touch with chapter alumni who are now at airlines, and they can be quite helpful for recommendations at regionals these days. Just my thoughts...

Also, we do some joint activities with Women in Aviation, so yeah, thats fun too... :cool:

In response to the chatter about AHP; yeah, I saw it on the Clubs & Organizations Board in the UC at ERAU :) --back in the early 80's. Like the previous comment said, it has its place in society, however, it doesn't hurt to be part of a fraternity or other professional or social organization; especially when you're looking to get onboard at a company that you really want to work for. Personally, I'm a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
