Civil Air Patrol is an auxiliary of the United States Air Force. Their primary mission is Search & Rescue. Other activities include sundown patrol; orientation flights; FCC radio/telephone license classes; CPR & first aid classes, and a host of other very interesting programs that facilitates the development of leadership skills; both corporate and moral.

I'm a former member of the Palm Beach Cadet Squadron, Unit# 08159, one of the finest squadrons ever of the Florida Wing.

Take up the invite and go and see for yourself. Oh and btw, it's a great idea.:)

I never did it when I was younger. However, I have worked with them since I have been flying in the AF and it does seem like a good deal, especially if you like flying! So do what atp says, go and make your own decision. At least that way you will know for sure and you will never wonder about it. BTW, I made a contact in the CAP that just helped get me my airline job, so there is that aspect as well.

true. I doubt this squadron or flight will get a plane being its just starting up, I doubt I'll get much if any flight time, but we'll see. I go to the meeting next tues. and see what its all about. I am not after time building, but with a lot of work for them I'd like to think I'd be getting a little something out of it in the form of a little flight time.
