First SOLO today!!

Hey all,

Not much of a poster here but a very common lurker. Made my very first solo today! Started out with the instructor and did three trips around the pattern. Then he asks me to drop him off, gets out, and says "All yours." It was one of the sweetest moments ever. And I know everyone always says that airplane rockets off the ground when youre the only one in it, but you never really believe it till it actually happens to ya. But yea ended up doing three solo takeoff and landings.

Anyway thanks to all of you on here for posting great stuff from which I have been able to learn much. Cant wait to get on with the rest of my training!

Dave

My first solo was an experience I will never forget. At 16 I instantly felt more mature after making that first landing lol.

Nice Job!

Man the first solo.... It is truly one of the more memorable moments in life... I rank mine up there with graduating highschool... It is a real *grown* up moment. Congrats on the first and may you have many more.

They came after me with a bucket of cold water. When I ran the other way (I was 17), they hit my CFI with it. Pretty funny.

Congratz on your solo.

Congrats, too bad you weren't in a 152, every student really notices the new "performance" they gain with an empty seat.

Congrats on your SOLO. I did mine on the 13th of this month and finally got to go up by myself again yesterday for the first time since. I ended up going the wrong way in the pattern (luckily there was no one around). I noticed on my downwind when none of my marks looked familiar. I noticed I wasn't as crisp as I was on my solo. Maybe because so much time had passed.

Your first trip to your "practice area" will be one to remember too. I spent 2 hours just doing turn after turn. Taking it ALL in. That was true freedom and I fell in love with flying all over again.

Flying is much cheaper without an instructor tagging along.

I would also like to thank all the regulars for sharing their knowledge and making us newbies feel at home.

Congrats again!

Rob
