my point is this: this is the only industry i can think of where candidates pay to go to job fairs. i can't think of any industry that holds "job fairs" that charge admission to candidates. in fact, every non-airline company I've interviewed with paid my transportation to the interview site, hotel room, rental car, and all meal expenses.

the fact that airlines encourage this system where these firms take $$$ from job-seekers smells of a racket (not a high-level conspiracy - just some cheapo racket).
You can thank Kit Darby for that one. Just a fellow brother pilot looking out for you.

I am actually going through training with a female WMU grad now at DAL from ASA, never an ASA captain. I met her friend, also from ASA, she is a captain but not at DAL yet. So I would say that the program is going and producing.

There is NO WAY that mainline DAL would hire in this way, with thousands of high-time regional captains waiting for these positions.
This argument would have flown 5 months ago

Hi!

It sounds like 1964.

DAL is NOT doing a program like that now, but they, or their feeder airlines, will probably be doing in in 3-5 years.

This program was done back in 01. I know a few women that were at ASA, then came to DAL in this new wave. They are top notch. No PIC time, but DAL vetted them with a Type on the 737-800. Most fly and think better than you or I do.

Delta tried to lure minority pilots by offering free training at Western Michigan University. This was pre 9/11. I don't know what happened to the employees who took that offer. Too bad they didn't offer it to all people who were qualified and not just minorities. http://www.csrwire.com/PressRelease.php?id=547
