RJ Transition Programs

Hey everyone,
Can anyone shed some light on what bridge programs are good. I've heard good things about ATP, but would like some feedback. I also want to know if anyone has taken the Simulation Standards program in Phoenix. I know they are the most affordable, but does that translate into sub par instruction or is it worth it? Anyone who has personally attended this particular training program is encouraged to respond? Any info would be very useful.

On a side not, I'm nor starting this thread to ask whether it's a good idea to complete a bridge program or not, I just want to know which one are worth wile.

Thx

they were good when they let you get hired with 300 hours... now they are pointless since everyone stopped hiring... :(

stefanc 05-27-2008 04:56 PM

i believe that gulfstream offers one.

x2

Go instruct/banner tow/crop dust/haul skydivers.

You'll get paid and recieve better experience than any program giving you 20 hours in a simulator.

No, they weren't good then either...

Tell that to a classmate who went to JetU and got hired by an airline with 385TT. I don't agree with companies like these or the people who attended them. But it did what is said it would and got him the job sooner. Had he had waited, he would not have a chance in hell to be hired by a regional because of the slow down. What is amazing though is that in just a little more than 3 months the regionals went from hiring 300 hour wonders to being on the verge of closing their doors for good.

What happens when he ends up on the street due to furloughs?

Now you only have a couple hundred hours in a limited number of aircraft with no instructor ratings. The tens of thousands of dollars in loans fromthe transition course only add insult to injury.

I hope he doesn't get furloughed, he is one number senior too me and if he goes, I am certain to go before him.

it's worthless, total waste of time... go fly grand canyon tours.. it'll grow some hair on your chest!

CAE's bridge program is good, reasonably affordable, and you do the airline interview BEFORE you start the program, so you know you have a class date when you start. Right now, it's limited to Pinnacle only, but it beats plunking down some large coin at ATP and never getting a job out of it.

Jet U - some people I know went there. Over-priced, too long, but it gets people jobs.
Flight Safety - good, but way too pricey
Regional Airline Academy - don't hear too many good things about them
Gulfstream - don't even think about it

Your reply is over a month after the last post. Let's close this one down where it can live happily ever after only to be resurrected by the search function.

Re-opened. Simple math never was my strong point.

i'm going to ATP's regional jet standards certification in about a month. not that it matters since i don't really want to fly for an airline, but it'll still be a good experience. anybody else done it?

mooney 06-10-2008 08:28 AM

Lucas take this advice for what it's worth, but if you don't want do go the airline route, I wouldn't waste my money on the RJ "certification" course. Get a cfi/mei/ii rating or something else......

LucasM 06-10-2008 08:32 AM

i'm already doing ATP's career program. the rj course is included in the price.

Why did you go to ATP if you didn't want to fly for a regional? What an incredible waste of an extra $30K from your pocket! I'd say that even if you wanted to fly for a regional, but even more so if you don't.

LucasM 06-10-2008 09:38 AM

Not really. I'm getting all my ratings and time a heck of a lot faster this way. Besides I may change my mind later on. Personally, this was the best choice for me at the time and I don't have any regrets.

I did my IFR thru MEI in 11 weeks...ATP isn't the only place to get ratings done quickly...

BadMags 06-29-2008 04:39 PM

The RJ class at ATP is a total joke. Show up, pay, and pass if you have a pulse.
