Default Multi Engine Rating

Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced school/fbo/etc. to get my multi. engine comm. add-on? The going rate in my area, once they tack on all of the fuel-surcharges and such, is 280/hr + 45/hr for the instructor.

I know I am going to have to take the plunge eventually, but that cost just isn't feasible.

On a side note, I don't think the seminoles I have seen at the airport have flown all summer long, since none of the students can afford them.

Thanks

Lifter

Thats about what I had to pay to get my multi at my flight school. It use to be cheaper at my fbo but then they decided to buy a band new seminole from piper with the avidyne glass cockpit. That sucked because the price went way up per hour and on top of that they added a fuel surcharge.

Might want to look for a part 61 instructor that teaches out of his hanger to get the multi.

Might also look into getting your mei when you get the multi and try to save some money.

Thanks guys

It is definitely a tough situation out there as far as multi engine goes. It almost isn't possible to build multi time anymore... $50 gone by the time you are done with the run up!!! I like the idea of trying to find a 61 mei in the area. I was actually thinking about hanging up a flyer at the FBO looking for someone, or asking the FBO if they know anyone local.

Thanks
