Default Epic Flight Academy - Florida - Is it a good school????

I'm a 35 year old male living and working in Northern Ireland, as a Senior Cabin Crew Member, for a well known low cost airline. I now have the opportunity and finances (which are still limited) to finally consider a career as a Pilot.
Firstly I need to know if there's any point spending the money at my age and the chances of being employed.
Secondly which flight school to go to for the best value.

Is there anyone out there with personal experience of Epic Flight Academy or any other recommendation?

Thanks so much in advance.

1. At 35, I think you've still got time. However, if you are thinking about starting a family, or have already started one then I would think twice about the prospect as the outlook for the av industry is looking turbulent. Regarding available employment opportunities, as you are probably aware, the US av industry is pretty much FUBAR right now; other than flight instructing there isn't much else going on for low time guys. You might want to also check out pprune.org. for the lowdown on Euro jobs.

2. If you want to save yourself a lot of time, and frustration from being messed around (like I encountered) then I'd suggest going elsewhere. However, if you have your heart set on the Florida location, then I'd suggest checking out Falcon Flight in Sanford, FL. Ask for a guy called Robbie; he'll get you done superfast (if he's still there, that is). I'd also suggest checking out Falcon Executive Aviation in Mesa, AZ. It's a good school with a good training program and you'll get lots of personal attention. Plus, Arizona is a great place to learn to fly.

doesn't seem that much overpriced to me judging on what i've seen so far in florida schools pricing, but cannot get either a real feedback/review from somebody who actually went there...

Thanks for the replys.

Florida, as a location to study, isn't important at all. I'll check out the schools that you've mentioned - Thanks for the info.

My only concern now is the JAA conversion so I can fly in Europe. Is it better, and more financially viable, to complete the conversion in the U.S. (of which only a handful of schools can do) or at one of the many flying/ground schools in the U.K......?

I think I feel a headache coming on!!!

Thanks for the input.

Based on my very short "experience" 5 years ago, they are a typical ripoff who will nickel and dime you for everything.

Not that I doubt you, but tell me one that won't do that. They are in the business to turn a profit. I am all for getting a good deal. That is what I am struggling through for my daughter. But it seems to me that with these "accelerated" type of programs, you need to come in very prepared with writtens done ahead of time, etc. and spend your non-flying time studying your arse off. If you don't you are going to incur extra time and costs. To me, they seem on par with a few others. Maybe not the cheapest, but I would not put them in the too expensive/rip-off category at all.
