Where to go after I have my MEC?

In about two months, I will have finished my MEC license and will be moving on to the next phase. The only problem is, I don't know the next phase I will be taking. I am seriously considering going to Eagle Jet's International Guaranteed Employment Training Program. It is a six month program that costs about 20k, and when finished, they guarantee you a job with them when they start hiring. Has anyone gone through this program and can give me pro's and con's. Is there any other programs out there like this one that pilots would recommend? Thanks.

Try building time as a CFI. It will help you become a better aviator and that will serve you well the rest of your career.

One should never pay for a job in the business.

Get your CFI. For about $2k you can get a rating that, get this, allows you to be PAID WHILE BUILDING TIME!! What a concept.

Why would anybody fork out $20 large on a program that only guarantees you an interview (read the fine print) when "they" start hiring? Don't know if you've read any other forums, but even places like Colgan and Great Lakes who have traditionally hired very low time pilots are filling classes with furloughed airline guys that already have a couple thousand hours.

You'll learn more about flying as an instructor than you ever will sitting in the right seat of an RJ having all your decisions made for you. You'll also be building PIC time. That's nice to have when you end up on the street like I have.

There is a big respect factor associated with having a CFI that says to employers I care enough about this to want to give it to others. This in turn translates into better chances at jobs down the line.

Go a different route on building time. "the pilot will be placed in a pilot pool with American Eagle and will be one of the first new hired pilots when American Eagle begins adding pilots again."

I work for eagle and they will hire you regardless if you go to this place or not!

you mean "if" Eagle starts hiring again

Manwanafly, I had the same questions you have about where do I go. I did look at and pay the initial fee of about $900 to go to Gulfstream PFT school in Ft. lauderdale-Same deal, they offer you a job after completing the 30,000 school. But after reading these forums and understanding a lot of these guys have paid there dues and part of paying your dues is the CFI route and building time, I withdrew from the course and lost $900 and went on to get my CFI so I can also do it the right way and feel good about it. There is a lot of experienced pilots on this forum and I listened to their advice and I can say I have learn a lot by teaching and feel more confident in my skills as a pilot. Just my 2 cents! Good Luck

That is true, I quoted the website! When or if, it's still a gamble and not an investment!

Don't forget Eagle already paid for some people to take this training course, so the people in the POOL that Eagle paid for are going to get picked before some other poolie who paid on their own.

Eagle decided to waste $10k on me and not need me, don't waste $20k of your cash and not have a job still. I just got my cfi and am now looking for a job, it'll be interesting.
