Default Teterboro

many people love Teterboro because of all the corporate jet activity and becuase of this it is a great place to fly into, even if only once.. in there the other day fro the first time in a while and i must say, to a light GA airplane, particularly a newer pilot without the Class B experience, it can be very nerve wracking... i have been there many times and have no problems, but i know some new pilots go to test themselves there also...

little advice to some "newer" pilots... try to stay out of there becuase of 3 or 4 reasons...
1. wake turbulence coming over the buildings throws a lot of light GA planes to the terminal side of the runway quick
2. traffic... you need to circle to get the VOR-A and that turn is tight over the airport with 20 feet between you and the buildings on final to 19 or 24
3. the DP is not something carried by every VFR pilot but is a requirement when departing that airport, everyone must have it.. if not, tower must read it to you
4. overhead traffic... you have TEB traffic as well as EWR traffic only 3,000 feet above you... wake turb from a 75, 76, 77 is pretty rough on a little Piper

just giving the lookout because i saw a student there the other day looking for a class B signoff and he was shaking when i saw him later at the FBO after his TEB experience

I love TEB. I think that it is jet aviation that has its own private Gym for its pilots to work out in while they are waitng for customers. When I was there I went to Signature which was still nice and we got to see the Indy Colts corporate jet. I think it was a Gulfstream or Challenger. Fun place no problems for us. Definitly agree wouldn't go there as a student.
