Ifta

I am interested in applying to IFTA, does anybody have any information that could help me or know anyone on here who might. Thanks!

I work at IFTA, been working here for about two years. What questions do you have? Pretty good company overall and good place to be while the industry hopefully improves.

I am a CFI with 900 TT 256 multi and 8 months instructing at another academy. I am now at an FBO and it just isn't working out paywise. I have lots of questions. Mostly, I would like to know what to expect for the interview and what to brush up on for the interview. I am also curious on what the typical day is like there, ie. do you teach ground or just fly? Any information you can give me would be greatly appreciated. I am looking forward to applying!

Also wonder if you all teach NDB's at IFTA and how long it takes to get on with them?

dansia 10-06-2008 02:29 PM

Can you send me your email and I will talk to the new instructors to figure out the interview stuff.

Ja189 10-06-2008 06:50 PM

It is not allowing me to PM you, can you PM me and maybe I can respond. Thank you for your willingness to help!

Is IFTA mostly indian students?

goodyear859 10-07-2008 02:24 PM

What are the min qualifications?

What are the travel discounts?

dansia 10-08-2008 10:50 AM

IFTA is mainly Japanese students with a few Taiwanese. Min qualifications I'm not sure anymore, it has changed a great deal in the last year. Best way is to apply online and the HR woman will give you a call. JA189, you don't have enough posts for PMs so just post your questions here or your email and we can do it that way.

I was wondering mostly what type of questions are asked in the interview, whether you all teach ADF and NDB navigation, what your schedules are like, what the pay would be for somebody with 600 dual given. Just informational questions like that. Anything you could post on here would be greatly appreciated. I would love to post my e-mail but I am afraid of what people on here might do with it. Thanks again for anything you may provide.

ADF/NDB stuff is extremely limited. Interview you take a written exam which is pretty hard, but if you study should be no problem, oral interview you normally teach lazy 8 or chandelle and the rest is just HR questions, it was easy and laid back. Then you have a flight in the bonanza where you go do a couple maneuvers and then fly the ILS back in, typically a one hour flight. If you can maintain altitude and airspeed and fly an ILS you should be good. You are scheduled eight hours a day, but depending on your actual flight schedule you may be on call for a portion of the day. Only 2-3 students at one time. 600 dual given you would start out at 52k a year. I think you need 10 posts to PM, so get it and I can give you more info on the written exam.

Ja189 10-09-2008 01:14 PM

Thank you so much, I will get those posts and PM you. Thanks again!

I too have an interview at IFTA in a few weeks. Could you tell a little about the benefits (medical, travel, 401K) please. I know they get all these but I am not sure on the details on them. Also, does the pay go up as you gain longevity or is it all based on the amount of dual given you have? In other words, does pay max out at 56K? Any chance to move into a check airman position after some time on property? I am going to PM you for the written test gouge if you don't mind. Thanks

Subpilot 10-27-2008 07:44 AM

oh, one more question... how much do they provide for relocation assistance. Thanks again.

CaptainTeezy 11-06-2008 04:21 AM

How much time does each student get in the Baron?

nyalex 11-30-2008 07:12 AM

Dansia, if you are still watching this thread, could you send me an email at [email protected]. I'm planning on sending my resume in the next month or so and have a few additional questions. Thanks

Alex
