Getting my CFI back

Getting my CFI back
Hello all-
I hold a CFI/MEII that I screwed up and let lapse a few years ago. I misread the date (did a June/July swap) and here we are. I am very interested in getting it back as I still kick myself for messing that up. I live in the Anchorage, AK area and want to hear what everyone thinks is the best way to do it. It is my understanding that if I take a checkride for say the CFI in a single, it will reinstate all of them. True? Thanks for the help.

You must retake a checkride for any instructor rating which you held originally (your choice which one)...that will reinstate all of your previous instructor certs.
Usually people retake the CFI-Instrument because it's by far the easiest...but if you don't have a CFII, then that one is not an option.

And don't forget there are some DE's who can do this ride. It doesn't have to be with the Feds.
Rick, I don't know if things have changed in 20 years (hehe), but I let my CFI lapse in the mid-80's. I went for a ride with a DE. He told me I couldn't get my MEI back unless I flew a twin. I kinda laughed when the ride was over and he referenced my old certificate to write out the temp. He wrote MEI on it. I kept my mouth shut...

Lost my CFI stuff 10+ years ago. Our airline POI would not do it on my type ride and the FSDO would not do it because I wasn't instructing. Oh well. I guess the FAA doesn't like experience. I only have 4000+ as instructor. I'd like to get it back now that my kids are almost old enough to learn.? Anyone know a good DE in NE PA?
