CFI checkride and currency

Can I be out of IFR currency to take my CFI ride? I know everything will be VFR but does it look bad to the examiner if I'm not current, or won't they care? Thanks!

Why do you have to be IFR current to take your CFI? The FAA didn't even look at my hours, only my endorsement. He did tell me to shoot a ILS VFR, he just wanted to see that I can stay on the glide path.

Technically, no it's not required. I suppose it's possible you could get a DPE with a hair up his butt for IFR currency. You might just call the guy in advance and ask him...
