Any flight instructing jobs in southern california??
I've been looking for CFI jobs in So Cal for the past couple months without luck. I'm flight instructing part time at a mom and pop place but they don't have any students so it's not doing me any good. I've called up just about everyone and I get the same story (economy is slow, we're over capacity, etc). Do you think I'd have better luck physically walking into each place? It seems like things are really slow.
I'd also be interested in any low time pilot positions. I have my commercial/multi/instrument and CFI/CFII/MEI, 462TT, 140 multi.
Any feedback is appreciated!

I think you would have better luck if you walked in, talked to the chief pilot, and handed in your resume. I work for a flight school and have CFIs call all the time looking for jobs. I usually tell them that we just are not hiring, and that pretty much ends the call. If they take the time to come in, I spend some time with them and will turn in their resume to the chief pilot.

I agree %100 with the poster above. Despite want some people think, sometimes you CAN'T do everything these days via the net or a phone call.
Take a week, load up the car, and go for a road trip. Hit every mom'n'pop airport out there and beat the bushes. If someplace doesn't have any work, ask them for leads. TALK TO EVERYBODY.
Some places are just CFI slums. SoCal, anywhere in Florida, and probably anywhere within 150 miles of a "puppy mill" or a university with a flight program. You need to get outside that circle and put a face with the resume'.
I got the best CFI job I ever had from a road trip like this. I got "outside the circle" and hit every blue and magenta spot on the sectional. This was in the recession of 1991, and no one was hiring, but I got a lead from a place at a larger airport in one burg, and they said "why don't you try over at XXX?", which was an uncontrolled field with a small flight school I had never heard of. They weren't hiring either, but I spent 30 minutes with the Chief Instructor. 3 months later they gave me a call, and pretty soon I was banging out 80 hour months with plenty of multi.
Get out and see what's out there.
