Had my first PLANE ifr lesson today
So, today i had my first IFR lesson. We were in the Sim before the actual plane. But man, controllers were talking like they were at an auction. It was a lot to take in. I know my next flight will be much better.

You'll see your radio communications improve dramatically as you get more comfortable and familiar with all the instrument procedures.
Just remember, aviate, navigate, then communicate, and have fun too while you're at it. IFR can be challenging, but that just means more satisfaction when you do it right.

Yep. Fly the plane above all. You'll be amazed how quick it goes to poo when you're trying to program the GPS, tuning the radios and looking at the chart.
Do a little, scan. Do a little more, scan. Do the next thing, scan. Just when you think you've scanned enough, scan again. Don't start an approach until you're ready. If you need a vector to buy some time, ask for one.
The instrument rating is the most fun for a lot of people. I think it's the first time you really get a dose of "real world" flying that most of us will be doing for the rest of our careers. Good luck!

Welcome to the wonderful world of IFR. It is fun and challenging but just pay attention and learn everything that you can because it could save your life. MSFS or X-Planes are good to help you with you scan but other then that I would not use a flight Sim(other then an FAA approved one with and CFII) Try to get as much actual that you can.(This is only if you and your instructor is comfortable with it.) Fly on "easy" days. IE 1000ft celling with 4 mi vis. But the most important thing to remember is to fly the plane first and keep it up right. In IMC there is less room for error then VMC. Any way have fun you will find this is the hardest rating to earn and keep your mind open and never stop learning.
