Building Multi Time
Any one know of any where in Washington State where I could rent a twin for a decent price.
Me and another CFI at my flight school want to start building some multi time so when the time comes when the regionals start hiring we can get our papers in the first wave. Our flight school doesnt let us take their pride and joy brand new glass cockpit piper seminole. Anything would work for: Dutches, seminole, seneca and so on. The only thing we might prefer would be a gps in it. Any suggestions on where to look in to would be appreciated. |
I don't know about things in Washington State, but you and your friend could take a week or two off and go to a place that has cheap time building. You might check out the Aviator in Florida. Aviator Flight Training 100 hrs of Duchess time for $7,995.00 plus tax, WET.
Good luck. |
Interstate in PUW has a seneca

I just saw this if you are interested.
Multi engine time building Airplane |
I would love to build multi time, but there is none in Spokane, I know there is one in PUW for 350 an hour.

wings aloft at kbfi has two senecas i believe. I hear there is a seminal in auburn, but i haven't gone to check it out. the problem you will run into is that most places will have insurance requirements of 25 hours in make/model. which isn't a big deal if you are wanting to build time. |
Anybody in New England know of some twins or multi time-building clubs. I'm a CFII in CT, but my school doesn't have an twin. I was lucky to be able to get hired last june by comair with 50ME but got furloughed two weeks off IOE and only picked up 77 more ME. I think ME hours for regionals are gonna be around 200 for mins and I don't plan on waiting 5years for a recall so I need to get my numbers up. Any thoughts or insights are appreciated.

Renton's seneca is a Seneca II with boots, Priced in the mid 200's/hr i believe.
Wings Aloft has two, one a Seneca II and a Seneca I i think, Both are in the high 300's per hour last i checked. Check out some schools on the oregon border. There are some schools here that offer good deals on twins.

If you are looking on the east side of Washington, Pasco has a Seneca II for $280 an hour. Comes equipped with a GNS 430 and current databases unfortunately it does not have boots. :(
And, as Sundog mentioned most places are going to be looking for at least 25 hrs of make and model before they let you rent the aircraft. Which once again should not be a problem since you are trying to build time anyway. |

Good luck. Have you actually done this at Aviator? How can you possible get 100 hours of multi time for $8,000??? |

If two pilots are each paying $8K for the same hundred hours, it works out to $160/hr...which is about the going rate for a duchess. Also the package might require that you knock out the time in two weeks or so...cramming a lot of flying into a short period is very efficient for the owner. Most twins maybe average one flight each day. |
Okay, yeah that makes sense if you are splitting it with another person. It just seemed like it had some catch to it. And I wish the Duchess I flew was $160/hour!!! All the ones I could find were more like $200.
Unfortunately, people like me who have full-time jobs to pay for their ratings can't cram 100 hours of flight time into a short period. :) |
