Becoming a Pilot – Advice Please!!
I am a 19 year old from England currently in my second year of university studying for a Bachelor of Science degree with QTS (qualified teacher status). Although I really do enjoy teaching and would not mind it as a career my dream is to become a pilot. I never really thought of a career in aviation before as my parents were both teachers and it seemed the logical process for me to become a teacher.
I have had one trial flying lesson so far and I am really keen to begin attempting to gain my PPL. I understand that realistically I will not be able to afford lessons until I have qualified as a teacher and have a job. I am currently looking round local flying schools and there seems to be a wide range of prices for lessons. Any answers to my questions or any other advice or tips would be greatly appreciated. What sort of price should I be paying for a lesson? Is it a realistic career? Any advice at all on how I should go about achieving my goal to one day become a commercial pilot. |

Are you currently living in England? If so it might be difficult for anyone here to provide you with that information. Things are very different over there. I was told years ago that things are so tight in the UK that you had to be a RAF superstar to pilot a Cessna 310 for pay. Recently however I saw an article of a 25 year old guy who was a A320 captain in England so I couldn't tell you what the odds are. Skyhigh |
Yes I am currently living in England. Are there any forums that you know of that would be of help?

Try contacting these guys, they specialize in European flight training. They do some of their training in California, which is why I know about them.
