Default Embry Riddle CFI job Prescott, AZ campus

I was hired, but then put into a hiring pool because the entire school went on a hiring freeze at the beginning of this semester. I was wondering if anyone knows what the status is at ERAU for new CFI's and what it's like living in the Prescott, AZ area. I was told that August would be the next time they will consider a ground school again. Anything would help. Thanks!

As long as you teach the 5 mile Riddle downwind leg to your students, you'll get hired.

no worries!

Wow, haven't heard that one yet...and I certainly don't teach that.

August 2009 for consideration is a safe estimated ETA. Consideration is the key word. You'll be hoping that the airlines start hiring during the summer causing the IP's at ERAU to start heading out and open hiring slots. Good luck with that!

And living in Prescott isn't too bad. Best bet would be to live in Prescott Valley. Don't live in downtown Prescott useless you have some pretty good security measures. Living near the airport wouldn't be bad if you can find a descent house. Cost of living seems to be cheaper than most places.

I didn't know there was a hiring pool at ERAU-PRC. Do you know how many there are in it? Where you coming from?

I don't know how many are in the pool, but I don't imagine that there are very many during these times. I'm out of Provo, UT. I liked what I saw when I went down there for the interview. Might work out if they start hiring again. I am mainly interested in the opportunity for tuition assistance. They will pay for my Master's degree if I instruct there.

Riddle is an excellent place to teach, and because of this it's one of the few CFI jobs with a hiring pool. I interviewed there in Nov'03, did not get called back from the pool until July '04. Find an FBO to teach at in the meantime...it could be quite a while with the industry the way it is right now.

I expect it will be a long time before the PRC flight department hires anyone.... As they're currently letting the low seniority guys go.... I'm assuming those that have been layed off will get a call when they actually need more people.

With that said.... anyone hear of any other good CFI jobs? I'm currently looking, due to the above situation. Heh.

They are? I suppose that's what they'll talk about in the meeting today then eh? I know of a couple IPs that left, I know at least one of them was by choice and was senior-ish. Now I'm not so sure about the other one.
