Seaplane rating question
Anybody know what's needed for a seaplane rating????
-how many (water) landings??
-would I have to do stalls, steep turns, and all of that stuff??
-how many hours/flight lessons??
-what kind of $$$$ am I looking at?

it comes down to what ratings you have.
go to the pts:

look for the additional ratings task table, and apply it accordingly.
as for the flight times and money...all depends on where you go.

Outlaw is exactly correct, you have your minimum items that have to be covered in training depending on you current certs. I have heard of people adding both private or commercial in as little as 3 hours and as much as 15 ($500-$2500).

I'm definetly going for it, something I've always wanted to do, but have to find a cheap place, I guess anywhere but Florida and California

If you already have a commercial single engine land, then adding a seaplane rating is nothing. A commercial seaplane vs. a private seaplane really isn't anything. No difference. No steep turns, stalls, chandelles. Just take off, landing, taxing, docking, sailing. I did mine in about 8 hours and some of that was just flying for fun since no one around me rents seaplanes. It was deffinatly a good time.

Look up Adventure Seaplanes in MN. I got my commercial add-on ASES for $650. The guys there are awesome, I HIGHLY recommend them.
My checkride consisted of T/O, steep turns, taxi, step taxi, step turn, plowing, normal landing, and glassy-water landing. Sailing, too. Oral was quick... Maybe 20 minutes worth of questions you've heard before.
I got my commercial AMES in FL for $2,500, but that cost has gone up for sure... I was the last guy who got that price. Checkride was the same as ASES. Oral consisted of three questions: How many plugs does a Widgeon have? Why would you step taxi? And one other, which I forgot. After that it was "Let's go flying!"
