Jumpstarting a carrer
Hello everybody, I’m an air traffic controller with the army close to getting my college diploma and I’m a new pilot, hoping to start a career in aviation as a pilot. I have logged close to 200 hours on single eng so far, now my question is, from this point on what would be my best choice to continue my career. To be honest I’ve been giving the delta connections academy a lot of thought, but have no input on the academy. is this a right choice, or is there a better one? What would you experienced pilots out there recommend in order for me to hopefully jumpstart my career and get a decent job? I would really appreciate any advices and comments.
Thank you,

Jose,
ATPS would be your best bet if you wanted to get your ratings in time for a fixed amount and start building ME time for the regionals.
There are plenty of ATP (www.allatps.com) grads / current students / CFIs on board that will tell you the same thing.
If you havent already - I would downsize the lifestyle fast to make it easier to live as a pilot the first few years.

Jose,
Put in your WOCS packet and fly for the Army. Or, find an Army guard unit that would accept you into WOCS school and flight school. This way, once you get out of your FREE Army turbine complex helicopter training, (Commercial Rotorcraft w/ Instrument equivalent) you can then decide how to approach a civilian career. At that point, you've got the commercial certificate and instrument for FREE and things like being a flight instructor are closer and cheaper than before.
Give me a shout if you've got questions. Having the Army to fall back on (especially the Guard) is good for persuing a civilian career.

Hey Forrest, Ive been actually thinking about going to WOCS, got my letters of recomendations, great score on the AFAST, everything looks good, but Im thinking of getting out and work for the reserves or guard and go to WOCS with them. Are u in the guard?....whats it like?....would u recommend the guard versus the reserves?
