commercial question

do you need a signoff prior to taking the commercial written exam?

secondly, do you need to have a CFI initial or at very least a comms cert. in order to take the CFI/I written exam or can i take that now, since i am just PPL with IFR?

by the way, still looking for an MEI in the NJ area to split some time with

Yes you need a sign-off to take the commercial knowledge written. You just need to be a commercial pilot to take the CFI/I to my knowledge.

ok, i heard differently from someone.. since the Instrument, CFII, and IGI written exam are the same test, it would be easy to get them all out of the way now.. i heard you can take all of them with just the signoff and do not necessarily need the commercial ticket

I know when I took my inst written I took the inst, CFII, and Inst ground instructor with one sign off. The comm was a seperate sign off. The FEX and ATP did not require a sign off either

You do not need a signoff to take any of the CFI writtens. These include the FOI, AGI, and all other writtens.
