save $3,000/year of your part time job and invest it on a "vanguard sp500 index fund", study biology and quemistry and become a dentist,then,at 27,get your buy a nice dentist office and then get your ratings and buy your own plane, boat and mountain/lake/beach house.

To answer your question, I don't believe you can take the FAA PPL Checkride until you're 16, however you can get solo qualified with a student certificate from your local FBO.

I suggest picking up a copy of the FAA FAR/AIM (Federal Aviation Regulations). You'll get a good start on ground school while your at it.

Try joining your local Civil Air Patrol Cadet Squadron; progress through the ranks and staff positions and get a good aerospace education from the Senior Members and former cadets that are pilots.

Well, I am not quite sure what your getting at but here it goes. When your 16 you can solo or known as having a student pilot certificate. At 17 you can get your Private Pilot certificate meaning you can carry PAX. If you want to be a commercial pilot you need to be 18 for that. Also, they are certificates, not licenses, had a FAA inspector bash me on that when took my CFI. Though I do admit from time to time I still call it a license. Anything added on to that certificate (instrument, Sea plane, Multi engine) are called add on ratings. One more thing it is by no means anything like a drivers license it is much more responsiblity than driving a car. If you want to be an airline pilot good luck. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication.

Dude, if you want to go into a industry where you will be making less than the guy that fixes your faucet then welcome. You will be going to spend at least 20K-100K for college and another 40K for flight trainng just so you can hope to make 70K by the time your a 10 year pilot and with no job security at all. I would spend the next 3 years because you can't get the license at your age anyways, to see how the industry is going and weather you are willing to do the sacrfice for little chance of making it at a nice airline.

Go join a club or something and find out about other occupations it's not good to think just about flying. I knew that I always wanted to fly but in high school I never though about it much, I joined the law club and the medical club and only after I learned about other occupations and found that I didn't see myself spending a life as a lawyer behind a desk or doing the stressful job of a doctor did I go back to flying.
