Tailwheel endorsement in Central Florida
#21
I'd agree. I gave several hundred hours of dual in tail-wheel aircraft. I learned more about "flying" in those aircraft than I ever did receiving my ratings or in 2000 hours of instrument/multi dual etc prior to getting hired at an airline. I haven't CFI'd full time in almost 15 years and I still look at it as some of the most fun flying I have done. The skills you acquire flying tail-wheel aircraft will pay off every day you fly for the rest of your career. You soon figure out that the rudder pedals ARE NOT FOOTRESTS. Flying quickly shifts from being "mechanical" to "smooth". And there are not enough "O's" in smooth! Surprising how people who have tail-wheel experience seem to have no problem with V1 cuts in airline training, but those who have never flown one can't seem to maintain directional control worth a darn. Money well spent.
