Final Preparations for CFI CHECKRIDE

I have taught all of my lesson plans to my instructor. I know a great deal about part 61, as far as rote memorization of requirements and basic endorsements and understanding of it overall.

I can fly the piper warrior from the right seat to Comm standards. I graduate from the Part 141 CFI ground school I am in on May 2nd, and between now and then, I must fly the Piper Arrow about 8 times, then take a Stage 2 check, and End Of Course Check.

After the EOC, I take the Check Ride.

I feel the pressure, with a summer CFI job waiting for me, and a busy flight school schedule to deal with, what should I be focusing on as far as training and flying at this point in my training?

Any input would be greatly appreciated, everyone has always been VERY helpful.:)

It sounds like you have covered all the basics...any additional emphasis areas would probably depend the on the examiners past history...presumably you know something about him?

You said you're doing a 141 program...will your CFI checkride be conducted by an in-house 141 examiner (as opposed to a Fed or DPE)? Few schools have this privilege with CFI rides, but if yours does, then you should take the 141 in-house ride because you cannot "fail" it...the worst that can happen is that it is incomplete, and you re-do the stuff that wasn't right, ie no pink slip. Also, it's a more relaxed environment with an in-house examiner.

If you have to fly with a Fed or DPE anyway, you might want to bail on the 141 course and take the ride immediately. Since there are no time requirements for a CFI checkride if you feel ready and can get the sign-off you can just take the checkride part 61, rather than finishing the 141 course...I had students do this routinely when I was a 141 instructor. Just a thought.
