Purdue has a BS degree, although I call it my BS in BS. Plenty of Coed's on campus, and at least in my class I'd say it was 20% female or higher. Girls don't get any favors there, but everything as far as I was concerned was equal. Should've done a 2nd degree while I was there, that was my only regret as far as academics were concerned.

I hadn't quite gathered are you wanting a degree or just the ratings??? If it's just ratings, save your time and money and just go the FBO route, but if you want/need a bachelors definately take advantage of some of what the colleges offer, and get a 2nd degree while you're there!!!!!!1

From one to another, may I suggest you get involved with 99s and WAI. Both are great organizations for female pilots and both have forums and/or digests that you can participate in for discussions that concern female pilots. These have been my biggest support groups when things are rough or i doubt my career choice (which happens every time im furloughed) ;)
As much as I enjoy chatting with the guys here there are many things about being a female pilot that they just dont get. :)

Also, both of these programs offer many many scholarships that can pay for a large amount of your training. If you have any questions about either one of these programs (neither website is very user friendly but with some time you should find everything...) feel free to contact me via pm and I can help you in any way possible.

Good Luck.

I just want the ratings. I am only 36 hours away from getting my sociology degree with a minor in criminal justice. Im finishing that up currently by taking online classes.

In that case a reputable 141 school is the way to go. I haven't thought about or looked into it in a LONG time. But when I needed to finish up my commercial and CFII-MEI I went to American Flyers. They were well organized and quick. But that was nearly 25 years ago! (Wake up call I must be getting REALLY old!)

I have no idea what they are like today. If it is simply ratings you want 141 is the way to go. Don't get me wrong there are some GREAT part 61 schools out there but they tend to be a bit less consistent than the 141 guys. I can't personally recommend a great part 61 school either.
