Turbine Transition Courses

I teach part-time at Parks College, Saint Louis University. We just got CRJ AATD and I am trying to put together a class for the summer for those who have recently graduated or are instructing over at the airport.

I searched online and only found ATP and someone else that posted their cost. Most of the schools that I found offer the same thing; systems and around 28 hours of sim.

Does anyone know of any other schools and what they charge? I couldn't find a cost for PanAm or Delta Connection Academy.

Thanks.

I know that Kansas State University offers a turbine transition course. It is considered 3 hours (I think) of college credit and is billed as such.

UND has a CRJ course in they're level 6 FTD (is that the same as an AATD?) as part of the commercial aviation major. Cost is roughly $3500 for 10hrs in each seat (you only pay while sitting in the left). It also incorporated a ground school covering 121 regs, profiles, checklist usage, FMS operation, etc. CRJ systems and CRM are taught in different classes. Its structured as a 6 week course to "mimic" an airline ground school. The class was worth 3 credit hours.

Looks like 5k at ALLTPS.

Not to be a hater, but these programs are a waste of money. Seriously, people have gotten hired and made it through training for years w/o these types of programs. Why all the sudden are they so big.....schools looking to take more money. It's a shame what some schools/companies will do to drain the bank accounts of students.

Do I understand this correctly?

Parks focuses on students to help them become master of their domain? :p

Learner-Centric Education

Problem-Based Learning (PBL) is a well-known technique to provide a learner-centric education. Students who learn under the PBL methodology are known to be able to demonstrate deeper understanding of their domain as well as related disciplines, effective communication and teamwork skills, and engage in questions of ethics and social responsibilities. Ultimately, these students develop the intellectual curiosity, confidence, and engagement that will lead to lifelong learning.
Learner-Centric Colleges? What will they think of next :)

Anyway, back on thread. Is the CRJ course offered only to enrolled students or is a donated CRJ sim now a profit center aimed at the public?

Purdue's 727 simulator courses are $2065 each for the 2008-2009 school year, and feature 25-30 hours of time which is spent rotation through all 3 seats.

Programs there have pretty much only been available to current students. They have really never had the resources to do outside training.

As for the learner-centric...yeah I don't understand that either.
