Best Flights School?!?!?!
 

I know this is prolly a topic that is/has been beat to death, but all of this reading and I have yet to really find where the "best" school is. If anyone knows of a link to a page where this is discussed or that could tell me something I would really appreciate it! Thanks!:D

a 4 year degree from your local community college in anything other than aviation and your local FBO is the best school. You'll be just as qualified and just as competitive as the guy with the Bachelors from ERAU...except you won't be 100,000 in debt

I'm a student from Canada. Money is an issue however and the nescessary financing isnt available. I've recently postponed my private pilot lessons due to insufficient funds. I've read a book by ex-airline pilot Robert P. Mark callled the Professional Pilot Career Guide, in which he recommends ERAU. I'm currently in talks with a company called NelNet in which theyd help finance me with about $140 000 USD. I just want to fly with a high-degree and get on. However, Im thinking about possibly heavy debt in that case. Any opinions? Should I go that route? Any other school in the states that I can attend that is just as good with good bachelor degree programs? ASU?

Finish a four year degree then get a loan and start at ATPs (www.allatps.com). You'll be better off than ERAU.

Good stuff! Those Citations are looking wonderful! I will definetly outweigh the options and see which is available financially but ATPs has my hopes high!
I spoke to HR at Air Jamaica lately. If you are of Jamaican citizen, you can get onto a Dash 8-100 with only 650 hrs! Might I add, its nothing to become a Jamaican citizen, as long as you are of good to the country. Getting citizen there is like getting a PR papers (permanent residense) <---Quite off-topic but wonderful!

In this case, won't you end up with more loans? I would think that you would have debt from the four year, and then add the ATP debt.

They both seem to work out to the same cost over the long run. Covering the four year degree plus ATP would eventually add up. The ATP program seems excellent though. On the other hand ERAU is hailed as one of the worlds best. Pilots that I know or have encountered with seem to think their program is fabulous

I spent my four years at ERAU...got the bachelors, all the ratings and the debt to prove it. Was on the dean's list graduated with a 3.55. I got hired right along with the guy who went to a small local FBO, and a 4 year degree from an online program. He spent probably a quarter of what I did and I'm no further ahead than he is. The only benefit i see to ERAU are their internship programs and the fact that they force feed you the aviation knowledge. Looking back on it, if I were to do it again, i would not attend. Its not worth the debt. You have to understand that you will spend years making 20-30k per year...and you will be paying between 10-15k/year in student loan payments alone. Go the cheapest route possible. It might not sound like the best now but you'll be so glad that you did after you get your first regional pay check.
