The captain of Flight 3407 flew for GTA prior to going to Colgan, I believe...

Too funny.

"CNN reporter? Really?"

Sorry, too many people fishing for the last few months.

GTA...pay $80k to play F/O and MAYBE you'll have a "job" for 250 hours (or until your bank account goes dry). I'm sorry, they call them "interns" now.

ATP Flight School: Airline Career Pilot Program in combination with Gulfstream First Officer Program

Isn't they get "paid" $16 as an "intern," but $100/hr to sit in the seat?

GTA, I hate to say it, is not the problem. It's capitalism, folks. Some people have money, or are willing to go into enormous debt with little guarantee or reward.

The problem here is the FAA's pandering to the airlines. The FAA LETS THE AIRLINES schedule 16 hr duty days and min/reduced rest that starts 15 minutes after the cabin door opens. Who cares if the hotel van is an hour late?

Circadian rhythms...what are those? The FAA doesn't care, and scheduling will swap you back and forth from PM to AM shifts day after day until you must call in fatigued. For that, you get chewed out by the chief pilot for not being able to function on 4-6 hours of sleep (after the late vans and early shows).

Just look at all the problems AA and SWA had with maintenance recently. You're telling me the FAA doesn't let the airlines slide?

The captain didn't fly for GTA, he was trained by GTA.

If there was any doubt, I just saw Allan Chernoff do a piece on GTA/GIA.
Interesting...
