Unhappy A little blemish on the record, need advice

I had just completed a landing in a Barron E55 at night. While on the latter part of my landing roll out, a deer moved from the grass onto the runway. I swerved to avoid the animal, which resulted in a Sideload / Gear collapse on the right side. So now there is this wonderful incident on my record. How does this effect my Airline career chances? The FAA incident records on my file shows that this was the result of my avoiding the deer, so I have written proof that I didn't just goof up a landing. Will the Airlines ever deny you an interview because of something like this on your record?

Souldn't be a problem. You can spin it in to a positive at an interview. Especially if it is one of those " tell me about a time type interviews." Tell them how you became a conservationist after saving that deers life with your quick reactions and skillful airmenship.

Don't sweet it!

You'll be fine. Maybe bring the FAA report with you to the interview, that way the interviewer(s) can put it to rest in his own mind immediately and not have lingering doubts to spoil his interaction with you.

We had an Aztec hit a deer at my airport. Collapsed the ldg gear and destroyed both engines. Pilot wasn't hurt and engines were at TBO. So the owner said the only unfortunate incident in the whole thing is that there was no deer meat left to eat Citation also hit a deer as well. Funny they spent X millions of dollars on an animal proof fence and the deer just leap over it, coyote dig under it, and the turkey just walk through the gate. I think animal incidents are very understandable.
