Mes + Mei

I'm thinking about banging out a MES + MEI at the same time if possible. Anyone ever done this? I don't really instruct anymore, but if I was going to spend a fortune on a MES rating, I figure I may as well go for a MEI while I'm at it.

Plan B is to grab a MEI at that ATP school and then search for a MES somewhere in the country. Anyone have any suggestions?

Actually, I think that's a great idea. Let me know how it goes. What are you doing your MES in?

I was debating between the Twin-Bee and the Grumman Widgeon (both are down in FL). They're the only twin seaplanes that come up when I waste time on google. If you know of anywhere else, let me know. Each are around $500/hr.

Fixed. Identifier changed ;) Great Airport to fly into- they have a nice little restaurant on the field, the burgers were pretty good. Last time I flew there they were building a tower, I believe its been under controlled for about 2 weeks. (correct me if im wrong)

Hey, just one thing to think about. You need 15 hrs of PIC in category and class to get your MEI...you're not going to be able to log PIC until you're rated.

I'd have to revisit the regs on that, but it may be a hurdle to think about.

^without review, I don't feel completely confident in the above statements^

I think the MEI is just Airplane Multi-Engine (not AMEL v. AMES).... So as long as he has 15 hrs PIC in AMEL, I would think he should be okay.
