CFI Jobs

I am looking for a CFI job. I know the market isn't the best, but I know there is a job out there. I don't care where it is what they pay or what they treat you like. I have been sitting around and I am ready to work.

Thanks in advance.

re:

Things are slow for them right now, but I know that Wings Aloft in Seattle will possibly hire another club instructor or two. I don't work for them anymore because I needed a steady paycheck to support my family. If you don't mind hustling for your own students, they are pretty fun to work with. Seattle is expensive though, so think about it hard.

Talk to Kristie or Terry

Thanks, it seems as though a lot of schools are doing the find your own students thing right now. I dont have the time and money to market for them. I need a well established school.

A plumbing company had the same idea. You work for a commission and when your not working pass out fliers for free to advertise for my business.

I am not giving up.

try sierra flight academy in Atwater, California. Or Wright Flyers in San Antonio Texas

Trans-pac.. but competition is stiff.

peterpilot55 11-03-2009 05:51 PM

watch out for Sierra... they've been violated for stuff like having two students "solo" together... no telling what you'd get yourself into. I hear Wright Flyers needs someone who will keep from breaking their twins.

doublerjay 11-03-2009 11:02 PM

Go look at Wright Flyers in San Antonio. Big Chinese contracts keep nearly all instructors pretty busy. Right now, theres only one twin to break and it's been doing fairly well lately. The "other" twin is still down for maint...

pattupilot 11-04-2009 03:41 AM

yeah, specially when you have a cougar that was out of production 20 years ago. Difficult maintenance on that...

I think they still hire people who are willing to fly c172 and want to listen to all crap from the management team...

You need to market yourself as a CFI and get a few students who want to fly and are ready to go. Then, go to the flight school of your choice and bring the business in. They will let you fly if they are getting the money. Then by the time the students you have are done training, the school will know you and you'll be on the top of the list for when a new instructor is formally needed for school business.

Thanks for all the input. I tried a few of the schools and they are not hiring but I will keep trying. I have been out there looking for some students but times are tough at my house. I have been laid off for 6 months and steady looking for work.
I paid my way to an interview on the other side of the country and didn't get it things aren't looking up yet. I have been out there and the market sucks. You guys know that though.
