I wouldn't want to do it online. I was thinking about ERAU worldwide Rockford campus for 2 years and then maybe transferring to the mainline Daytona Beach campus.

APC -

I'm glad that so many of you enjoyed Spoilers analogy. I even find humor in it; but it is not an appropriate post (subject matter) for your professional forum. APC is not suppose to be a high school locker room.

Purdue has a wide array of respected schools within the University (top Engineering and Management schools to highlight just a few) in addition to their aviation program. The opportunity to major and/or minor both inside and outside aviation is a compelling statement in itself. I have friends that both graduated in aviation technology and those that graduated in engineering but fly on the side. Both plans of study have strengths and weaknesses.

That said, it's not cheap (unless you're an Indiana resident).

Big checkbook, the will to lower the standards of the industry by more than willing to fly for low wages and crappy contracts

I believe UND allows you to pay either in-state tuition or the WUE (western-undergraduate exchange) rate which would be cheaper than out-of-state tuition at ERAU. Plus its a real college experience (girls, hockey, girls, other sports, girls, etc.). I'm not familiar with other schools like Purdue or Kent State or if they would give you a break on tuition. But something worth checking into.

You seem like a smart kid, so if you really want to go to pursue an aviation degree, then do it! BUT, I HIGHLY recommend double majoring in something else as well, like business, economics, engineering (if your crazy), or history. You need something to fall back on. Personally, I have a commerical aviation degree from UND and also a business degree. Its nice to have a back up plan! Good luck in your efforts!

Since ERAU is a private college they don't have an out of state tuition. UND's website says I would get no credit for my PPL.

Not sure about ERAU, but I don't think you get automatic full "credit" at any aviation college. At UND, you won't get credit because the private pilot course is a college class as well and in order to get the college credit, you need to take the course. For those that have a PPL already, the flying portion of the class is achieved by flying a few lessons with a CFI. I don't know how many lessons there will be because they are changing it this spring, but I think its far south of 10 lessons (of which maybe 6 are actually flights). But again, I don't have specifics since its changing. Mostly its to get you use to UND procedures and aircraft.

Ask yourself this question. What will ERAU/UND/WEBSTER do FOR ME in regards to flying for an airline that somewhere else will not? A degree from ERAU/UND ETC..... will not, I REPEAT NOT, get you into an airline faster than anywhere else. Why, you may ask? The answer lies within the hallowed halls of APC. Please, please research before you and your parents decide on THE BEST COURSE FOR YOUR EDUCATION. AIRLINES HAVE NO PREFERENTIAL TREATMENT NO MATTER WHERE YOU MAY GRADUATE FROM.......

Unless graduates from these schools with accredited programs are exempt from the 1500 hr / ATP requirement of HR 3371 that is currently going through the Senate. Times are changing.
