What kind of fun is that!? 4 years of nothing but learning? You need to have a life!

Any commercial pilot that was trained anywhere, even a small FBO in the middle of west Virginia could pass a C402 FO ground school!

I was going to comment on that as well. Tell me you understand the avionics cooling system (and be able to back it up) on the B-757 and then I'll be impressed. Ground school on a twin Cessna, not so much...

Alright.... I guess i'll put in my 2 cents.....

I graduate from ERAU Daytona on May 10th..... cannot wait

I will start by saying that although in hindsight I would most likely have picked another way of getting to where I am..... I believe that regretting things is worthless and if I'm happy with where I'm at in life then whatever.....

That being said getting through living in Daytona for 4 years was a pretty big struggle at times. I had a lot of fun at times but if your a person who thrives in a social scene such as myself, you honestly get really depressed at times. I had many friends at UCF which is 50 min away and it is literally what saved me. UCF has an awesome social life.... but honestly being 50 min away from that made it even more depressing at times (and led to many misinformed long distance relationships). Going down there on the weekends, having a great time, meeting a girl, and then having to leave the next day..... sucks

The classes and almost all the professors were great.... I really feel like I've learned a ton and am thankful for that..... the flying can actually be a drag at times and theres a lot of times that you get hung up in the bull****.... so I would fly off campus. The only real benefit of flying here is that the mx is quite good.

If you do go here, work your ass off to get your money's worth (impossible) but get as close as you can. I have all the flying, but I am also graduating as a CTI and have my dispatcher certificate. I am also doing an internship which has already led me to many many connections that should prove to be quite useful. The professors here almost all have extensive careers in the industry so treat them as potential connections to..... talk to them, you might be surprised what you find out.

Sorry for the ramble but figured id put some thoughts out there.

Please, please research before you and your parents decide on THE BEST COURSE FOR YOUR EDUCATION. AIRLINES HAVE NO PREFERENTIAL TREATMENT NO MATTER WHERE YOU MAY GRADUATE FROM.......
I beg to differ. On the Continental Airlines application if you went to Purdue you check the box and it gives you more points towards getting hired. That being said, any place you decide to go would be fine, but I would highly consider getting a degree in another field but continue to fly on the side so you have a backup if you get furloughed from an airline. You can't replace passion for flying, but it's hard to replace lost money when you don't have a flying job and any other degree to fall back on. Just a thought. By the way, I'm a Purdue grad and I did love it there!

It's quite simple really...it's magic...

cmac88 nailed it: your connections are important, too.
