Something tells me he's into Orange's, Lemon's, and Lime's.
Your first two options sound more like pleasure than business, and the 737 type would mean pro, but if you aren't going for SWA then I wouldn't waste my time/money. But the same can be said for the seaplane ratings unless you plan on working in some capacity with those planes, or owning one. I'm thinking I'd save my money overall unless it's just burning a hole in your pocket. I would love to do the SES/MES myself, but I can't justify the means since I don't see myself using the rating in the near or distant future. |
I missed the Oranges, Lemons and Limes thing, but I think I have come up with a plan of attack.
After thinking about this for a long time, I think what I want to do is this. First, I am going to do a tailwheel endorsement and some aerobatics in a Decathalon. There are a couple of reasons for it, but one is because there are a lot of really cool tailwheel aircraft that I would love to be able to fly and currently can't. Second, some time this summer I am going to go down to Florida and do an ATP SEL and SES at the same time. I have always wanted to do the Seaplane thing, and since I am already an ATP and very instrument current, doing the seaplane ATP is no big deal. Third, at the end of this year or some time next year I am going to get the ATP MES rating. My wife and I have talked about moving to the Islands for a couple of years and flying for an Island hopper like Seaborne. Having ATP SEL, SES, MEL and MES, as well as instructor ratings, will give me some flexibility when that time comes. My youngest graduates in 2 years, then we are off! Whatcha think? |

Oranges, lemons, and limes all being citrus fruits. Pretty clever I think, kudos Ewfflyer! |

I'm pretty sure he is referring to Airtran, whose ATC callsign is "Citrus"

*phew* I'm glad I didn't go too far into right field on that one. Guess I'm good at guessing and then throwing everyone else off on my guess, who whould've guessed it?!?!

I’m curious myself. I’m sure the OP eventually realized that going straight for the ATP SES, and especially MES, would not be as cheap as they thought. The new ATP regs require 50 hours in category AND class to apply. It’s not just a matter of taking the MES ride to ATP standards anymore.
