help choosing a headset
Hi guys
has anyone heard of AVX Aviation Headsets, made in Korea: SHS880 AVX Aviation Headset 26db NRR Brand New - eBay (item 400043828123 end time Jul-10-10 07:57:12 PDT) |
I think you are asking for trouble with that thing. If thats your budget check local craigslist for like a used david calrk or something similar. If you can afford it or have a credit card with a high enough limit get a lightspeed zulu, hands down.

Flash back to my student days in a 152, no headset, CFII yelling over the engine, me trying to understand AND fly the plane at the same time. |
I haven't come across this one. I have come across others, some of which are pretty good for the price. But I wouldn't get an off-brand from eBay without a specific recommendation.
If you're looking on eBay, you're obviously dealing with an limited budget. If this is the way you need to go, I'd stick with known major brands and sellers with high approval ratings. There is some good stuff, but also a lot of crap. Or.. have you looked at the bulletin boards at your airport. Mine always has something from a local pilot who has either upgraded or is leaving flying. |
Which point are you at in your training. If you are looking for your first headset, then you should stick with a passive headset. I'll second Dave Clark.
