I have heard a lot about this school and I have visited it. I hear comments like you get good multi time and you get the ratings quick. But is quick always proficient? How can you possibly learn to be a good CFI in 14 days? It shouldnt be about how fast you canget your ratings or how much multi time you get. WHat happpend to being aproficient pilot? I would rather take a yer to get one rting and be proficient than 2 weeks and just learn the minimum

No, you want to get your ratings as quickly and cheaply as possible while learning to be safe, don't sacrifice safety. The real learning comes when you are employed in your first pilot jobs: cfi, 135, 121 FO.

That's why airlines don't give a rat's butt about where you got your ratings, but they do care about your actual flying experience.
The CFI ratings are the only ones where some extra instruction would be useful.

ATP does have a reasonable reputation.

I understand

I have heard of many flight schools that frown upon their training... I do agree with you, I would not feel same knowing that you can get your CFI in 14 days. The airlines might not give a "rat's butt" about your training but the flight school that you go try to get a CFI job will. Just my .2 cents

And I think thats he problem. People are becomming CFI's not to become proficient teachers of aviation, but to build time and thats why rick777 says get them as quickly as possible. They are more concerned with getting the rating and building time and geting to the airlines than actually becomming proficient teachers. They want to satisfy the airlines. Heck peple even refer to themselves as timebuildrs intead of instructors. Read posts on here and they openly tell you to become a CFI to build time to get to an airline job. They look at a CFI as a temporary job and a neccessary evil to go through to be an airline pilot.

I really dont like that attitude. Thats why I only use instructors dedicated to instructing. My PPL instructor was 60 years old, been teaching since the 70's and w truly interested in my development as an aviator. I did have a "timebuildr" once when I was working on my comm multi. I had to because i had to go to a 141 school in order to use my GI Bill. He was a good guy, and he knew how to teach but he didnt know anything about general aviation. He looked at my logbook once and wondered why I had so many hours. He didnt realize that I dont just fly to build hours and work on lisences.I like to fly for fun.Take my girlfirend to lunch in Savanah sometmes. Sometimes I just like to fly for the heck of it.

I want to be a CFI oneday, not just to build hours. I sincerely love avaition and want to see others enjoy this activity. I wonder how many people under the age of 30 are members of NAFI?

AMEN!!! The CFI I did my CFII, MEI is a construction worker but loves to teach and fly. I had a great time getting my training through him and you can tell that he didn't do it for the money but for the passion he has to aviation and to teaching.
