University of Alaska Anchorage
Does anybody have any information on the Aviation Program there? I heard it was pretty popular?

I am current UAA student. Are you looking at the piloting program? If so look else where.
Pros:
|
DONT DO IT. Use a local flight school, wont rip you off (as bad)
|
It sounds like a common problem with the program is its cost. If you had all your flight training and college paid for do you think that you would enjoy the program more?

Not really. The length it takes to get the ratings makes you lose interest. I have been working on my instrument rating for two years.

2 years? That's a pretty good wait. Why is it that it takes this long to get a rating there? Is there alot of other students in your position? Waiting years to get ratings?
There are other students in a very similiar position. For some students it takes longer to do the flying than all the classwork. I know two people that have been working on their commercial for two years. |
Students flight training video
Hey AS pilot 2be. Do you know if any of your colleagues there shoot any video of their flight training. I'm trying to gather video of the Anchorage area in that its a very unique with the terrain you have there. As well whats a good fbo to get checked out in a 172 over at Merrill Field. I spend alot of time up there doing the airline thing. It looks like I will have access to a 206 on floats this summer. I need some info on what lakes are around there as well and how big of a gun I need to bring along for the bear action...I'm a floatplane junkie.
Thanks Scott Captain B-747 |

To bad you guys can't go south and train between semesters to get the flight training done faster. It took me 2 years for my Private, 2 for both my Commercial/Instrument, and 1 for my CFI, not because of weather, but because I was poor. I feel bad for you guys.
