Training in Africa

A friend of mine did his training and works as a charter pilot in Africa...I was told (not by him) that it was really cheap to get certifications over there (except SA) but also what you gain in cost you sacrifice in safety. Has anyone trained in Africa? Is this true?

Africa dosn't sound like the best place for flight training... :(

I don't know about flight training, but I met a guy who did most of his flying in Africa. I believe he went over there with all of his ratings and found a job. He said he loved it and was a great and interesting experience.
