Default Frasca 141 Sim.

Does anyone have any info to share on the Frasca 141 Sim.? I believe it is set up in the A-36 Bonanza configuration.

How does this unit fly?

I have time in both the 141 and the Bonanza and I don't recall them being the same. The 141 is setup as a generic ASEL piston cockpit.

It is an FTD, not a simulator. If you are using an older model, it will be VERY twitchy. Not sure if the new ones are any better. It's OK once you get used to it...if you can fly instruments in a 141 you will have no trouble in a real airplane.

ok, I was wondering if you have no problem flying the real airplane, how would one do flying this Frasca 141 Simulator. Yes it is called a simulator, not a FTD. I did a little on line research and found it. Looks like it has no visuals.

I've seen many different variants of the 141. The standard 141 generic ASEL model is just that, a generic model. However, specific aircraft models can be uploaded. I've seen C172s, PA-28s, etc. It would not be difficult to upload the model for Bonanza performance. There can be visuals depending on your specific set up; it all depends on the one you are using. I did find it touchy on the controls a bit, but it really improves your scan. Just try and figure out some good power setting and pitch attitudes and it'll make learning it a lot easier.

As far as certification, the only ones I've used have been labeled Level 1 FTDs. I've heard of some going up to Level 4, but I can't vouch for that.

Wouldn't bet on that. The Frasca is very touchy. If you have an interview involving a 141, get some frasca time in advance.

Usually it's, "If you can fly the sim, the plane is easy" Not the other way around. Every Frasca I've ever been in is a bear to handle.

I concur..Frascas blow to fly...have heard some are easier to fly than others though

The ones I've flown are very touchy..if you look down at your app plate for 2 seconds, you'll be in a 20 degree nose dive.

I flew a F142 a bunch at the last flight school I worked at. Pitch is very sensitive, the roll is a bit more controllable. The nice things about the Frasca is the power change responses are much more predictable than the IGate sims.

BTW when is your interview, I might be there the same day?

Personally I am not a fan of the Frascas. The ones we use are sooo touchy making it a huge distraction just to stay strait and level. My students get frustrated, feel like horrible pilots and want to quit. I have to get them back in the plane to show them they dont suck as pilots

I dunno... Every Frasca I've flown has been an FTD.
