Multi Engine training + Arlington TX?
Has anyone been to Multi Engine Training in Arlington TX ? I was recommended to them and yes I know of their relic twins but it gets the job done and the guys there seem very experienced. Any input appreciated!

not sure which school your talking about, but is it the school right next to ATP? are the relics your refering to "scary airs"?

Im not sure where ATP is but this school just has a generic name Multi Engine training and they use BE Travel Air aicrafts

i have heard its pretty shady, but you get your ME done as cheap as possible. Depending on where you are as a pilot, don't highly encourage it because you don't know how safe you are, even once youre done with the training. Have you been taught everything you need to know? Is there something you've missed that will/could get you killed? Just my opinion.... To each his own though, fly at own risk! ;)

but than again now that i have thought about it... are you getting the training you need at a ATP flight school, and are you taught everything you need to know? Not every school is perfect... and even the ones that cost a lot and have a big name can quite possibly give poor training. Not always the case, but a possibility.

No i havent trained at ATP... I trained at a small flight school and even though I wasnt taught everything, its simply impossible, I was taught to be a safe pilot and to a very high standard IMO.. So now its time to do the Multi Add on .. I understand what u are saying about the quality vs the quantity and being prepped for just a check ride ..

I did my MEI there couple of years ago. Great school and great instructors.
The school is called ''Clyde's Multi Engine Training'' Just be prepared to read like a crazy guy for the 3-4 days you are there. They have a mock up which will help you a lot to learn the procedures and stuff. They use a BE-95, an old plane, but very stable. I was very satisfied... |

Once you're there, spend every spare moment in the cockpit mockup rehearsing your flows. It will seem impossible to pass the checkride in that amount of time, but Clyde and his team know what they're doing and they will get the job done. Regarding the airplanes (Beech Travelairs), they are not glamorous but they get the job done. They fly very nice, and actually have pretty good engine out performance, particularly for a light twin. If you're looking for a fancy G1000 Seminole, this definitely isn't the place for you. The checkride is very straight forward, just fly like you were taught and you'll be fine. The FAA was supervising my DE during my checkride (for his annual recurrency or whatever they call it), and everything went great. You aren't going to come away an expert pilot in multi-engine operations, but that isn't the point. Nobody's going to turn you loose by yourself in a multi with a fresh ticket anyway. It's just a place to get your ticket without getting ripped off. |

I received my ME and MEI from them. Fast and efficient program. However, I wonder if they are still in business? I ran across an aircraft auction searching craigslist today and it looks like they air selling Clyde's Travel Air's. You can also see the sign, "MUTLI ENGINE TRAINING" in the back ground. :confused:

And the saga continues with my multi engine add on.. Still not completed..
Who has flown a Piper Seneca II ?? I came to Central FL to do the CFI as I deferred things with the dam multi engine add on.. Its turning into more drama and if I just think of 'multi' it shoots my stress levels high.. The original Duchess 76 I was doing my multi on got screwed up and the school cant seem to get it fixed so they got a Seneca II with 230 HP engines.. It will be slightly more costly than the Duchess.. I was 96% ready for the check ride and now if I want to continue I gotta transit to this other type.. I flown a Seneca at the first nightmare school in another part of FL to fly.. The owner of the school tells me the Seneca II flys very well.. So Im not sure how this Seneca II with turbocharged engines will surely make it a good performer, not sure how it does on single engine .. no doubt, I will end up with my high performance endorsement. Clyde's Multi Engine Training is not in business anymore. The only option for Multi training is ATP or American Flyers.
