IFR Checkride in SR22
 

I would like to see if any CFI's out there might have some input for me! I am a CSIP working on a students IFR training in his 2010 SR22 Perspective. We are about half way through his training and I am starting to think about the checkride.

I was wondering if any instructors have had to make their students go to a particular DPE because the Cirrus is such a "different" airplane. The main reason I am asking this is because I have seen on the Cirrus website that there are DPE's that are Cirrus certified. I haven't asked my DPE that I normally use yet about this because I would like to test the waters here first.

The one thing I have learned after flying these planes is that the insurance companies are very particular about who does any flying in the Cirrus, so I don't think this topic is out of the question! Thanks for the help!

I taught at a 141 school using Cirrus (Cirri?), and the DPE's that we used were the regular local DPE's for the area. They were checked out by the school to perform checkrides in the Cirrus, but I doubt any of them were CSIP standardized. If you're in the Midwest, PM me for names and phone numbers.

DPE's do not usually act as PIC, so that might be OK as fas as insurance goes. It does raise the question about what happens if the student screws up, the DPE intervenes, and metal gets bent anyway.
