Logging time under 16
Hey all,
A buddys son whats to take flying lessons but he's 15 the regs say a student pilot is 16 so is his time not creditable until his birthday? Thanks for the help |
He can still log the time if it is dual with a CFI. Time is time. I have 3 students right now between the ages of 11-15. They just can not solo until they are 16 and have to wait until 17 to take the private checkride.

He needs to be 16 for issuance of a student pilot certificate/medical (i.e. one of the items necessary in order to solo).
He can log time and training for the other items towards the solo endorsement before then. |
Yes, he can log it. He just cannot solo until his 16th b-day.

several different aircraft on his birthday, good stuff. I can remember waiting to turn 23 so I could get my ATP. Yes we had cars back then, and Ozzy Osborne too. |
