Logging time under 16

Hey all,
A buddys son whats to take flying lessons but he's 15 the regs say a student pilot is 16 so is his time not creditable until his birthday?

He can still log the time if it is dual with a CFI. Time is time. I have 3 students right now between the ages of 11-15. They just can not solo until they are 16 and have to wait until 17 to take the private checkride.

He needs to be 16 for issuance of a student pilot certificate/medical (i.e. one of the items necessary in order to solo).

He can log time and training for the other items towards the solo endorsement before then.

Yes, he can log it. He just cannot solo until his 16th b-day.

There was a piece recently over on AOPA about a 16 year old who soloed
several different aircraft on his birthday, good stuff. I can remember waiting to turn 23 so I could get my ATP. Yes we had cars back then, and Ozzy Osborne too.
